What I’m Surfing: Stuff You Should Read, Too.
2009 August 7
All the interesting stuff from my feed reader. Lots of American Thinker this time around.
Most Interesting:
- Sweetness and Light highlights the “union thugs” sent in to disrupt town hall meetings. Sweetness and Light has quite a few videos that highlight a pattern in some recent town hall meetings: union folks – in support of Obamacare – are given front row seats at town hall meetings, while other folks – against Obamacare – are put in the back of the bus of the room.
- Obama’s revealing body language: Thomas Lifson at the American Thinker argues that the photo below reveals quite a bit about Pres. Obama character.
LOLz:
- Michelle Malkin on “proper” grass roots attire.
- American Thinker on liberal trolls.
- Connecticut nurse of the year is… not a nurse?
Race:
Sarah Palin on American Thinker:
- Stuart Schwartz – at American Thinker – argues that Maureen Dowd is terrified of what Sarah Palin represents.
- Stuart Williamson – also at American Thinker – suggests that Sarah Palin is a leader without a Party.
- J. Robert Smith – also at American Thinker – sees Gov. Palin in a battle for the GOP’s soul.
Misc.:
- The Anchoress puts the Obama-as-Joker picture into context.
- Dr. Laura (rightfully?) argues that these days, women are pigs.
- Michelle Malkin shows how the SEIU bought power in the current White House.
- Robin of Berkley – on American Thinker – examines how she become so conservative, so quickly.
- Ayn Rand becomes popular again… as the US federal government grows exponentially.
Guns:
- Gov. Jon Corzine signs a “one gun a month” bill into law.
- New Justice Sotomayor is freaking all the pro-gun and anti-gun folks out.
- Devil is in the details: “Firearms Industry Rejects National Park Service Classification of Traditional Ammunition as a Health Threat; Offers to Work with NPS on Hunter Education Efforts”
- Only in Texas: Guns on campus.
- Missourians consider guns on campii.
- In SoDak, a jump in C&C permits.
- Cringe-worthy for liberals: Gov. Palin speaks about the Second Amendment
Democrats Loosing Their Minds (And Control of the News Narrative):
- Rich Noyles keeps Washington Post columnist Steve Pearlstein in check. Pearlstein calls the GOP “political terrorists.” If that is the case, I wonder what we ought call Jeremiah Wright?
- Bill Press, left-leaning radio host, argues that town-hall protesters are “taking a page right out of a Nazi playbook.”
- At the behest of ACORN, police shut down a talk about Obamacare. [via the Anchoress]
- Iowahawk, via BigHollywood, satirizes Linda Douglas.
- Bookworm room considers what’s really behind the August recess.
South Dakota:
- South Dakota Politics examines the myth of the Edenic brown man.
- Middle Border Sun is excited the SoDak is turning blue.
- Dakota Voice runs a story comparing the United States to Rome… who are the modern day Barbarians?
- South Dakota Humanist demonstrates a nuanced understanding of Christian theology, runs a video mocking Christians. (Because I don’t understand nuclear physics, I’m keen on mocking nuclear physicists.)
- Red, Blue, and Purple rightfully praises ex-Pres Bill Clinton on his help in “freeing” those journalists from North Korea.
- SDWC is curious as to why Planned Parenthood is meeting with the Department of Health.

A fellow name Rick Scott is resorting to violence to disrupt town hall meetings.
Hitler would be proud.

Hiya Christianliberal,
Thanks for commenting…
I don’t quite get how Hitler would be proud? Can you explain that a bit more.
And if you have a problem with Rick Scott, then I’m sure you are equally as outraged with George Soros?
Fastidious
Okay, so let me see if I have this straight. Rick Scott spends his own money in opposition to what he feels to be bad policy and that compels a housewife from Pittsburgh to want to beat up her Congressperson? Wow!
I don’t know if you know this or not, but according to an Internet theory, the first reference to Hitler or the Nazis is usually an admission of defeat.
Oh, and on the subject of ObamaCare, before you continue your work on behalf of all the alleged “uninsured” in this country, I would invite you to visit my health care employer sometime. I can introduce you to all the teenybopper and early twentysomething moms that come rolling into my place driving 1-3 year old cars, wearing an A & F or Aeorpostale hoodie, or maybe even a Starter NFL or leather NASCAR jacket, Lucky jeans, brand new Nike kicks, texting all their BFF’s on their Razr or Blackberry, and oh, let’s not forget that rocking tattoo on the back of their neck or the small of their back, then proceed to pull out their Medicaid card and scream bloody murder because they might have to make a $3 co-pay on the item their doctor has ordered for them. Or better yet, I could introduce you to the 32-year old single mom who has 4 kids with 4 last names, all on Medicaid, who laughed at me when I asked her for a work phone number, because in her words “all I have to do is keep having kids every 4 years until I can’t and the government will take care of me. I live in a college town. Finding guys to father them isn’t that hard.”
Finally, I will leave you with this quote: “I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.” Any idea who said that? I’LL TAKE AMERICAN POLITICS FOR $800, ALEX! The answer is………Hillary Clinton, 2003.
Big B,
Remember all those Bushitler posters from a few years back? Didn’t someone make a film about the imagined assassination of George W. Bush? The MSM didn’t bat an eye at those things, but the second there are a few tea parties the MSM screams: “NAZIS HAVE TAKEN OVER AMERICA!”
As far as insurance goes, you’re so correct. Heaven forbid that a person has to pay for the services rendered… someone else (an insurance company, a government agency, etc.) should foot the bill.
