What I’m Reading: Last Week’s Overlooked News

2009 May 14

I’ve got all sorts of interesting articles in my “read it later” bookmarks, and I know I’ll never get to seriously blogging about them.  So, how’s about a series of “you should check this out” links?

Letter of Amends from a Recovering Liberal in Berkely by Robin is quite an interesting read.  The first half is just a series of apologies, but the second half is quite interesting because there Robin details why it was that the Democrats turned her off in the 2008 elections.

“The Joke’s Not on Obama” by Doug Powers is something that you should read with an empty bladder and no liquids in your mouth.  Powers lists all the jokes that should have been told at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.  One of the better ones: “President Obama said he’s going to take care of all Americans just like he takes care of his own family. It’s comforting to know that the worst that can happen to us now is ending up homeless in Kenya.”

Faces of Government Healthcare is a site that I haven’t had a chance to explore yet (because I’ve been too busy laughing at Awkward Family Photos).  It is authored By Conservatives for Patient’s Rights, and it looks to be a clearinghouse for information about the truth of socialized or government run medicine.

While we’ve all been caught up with the Swine Flu scare and the White House photo scandal, Pres. Obama has been sending some interesting signals to Israel. Mona Charel’s article “Obama’s Signal to Israel: Submit” at NRO is worth investigating.

Warning for this link: don’t read it if you’re conservative and you have high blood pressure.  Michelle Malkin covers the dead people who have been receieving windfalls from the Porkulus Bill.

And one that confuses me: Judy Shepard to be keynote speaker at Black Hills Pridefest 2009.  She’s the mother of Matthew Shephard – the University of Wyoming student who was brutally murdered.  I thought there was pretty conclusive evidence that Shephard was killed because he was part of some dangerous drug culture, so I am surprised to see her there.

To round things up: the Sherriff’s Log from the Custer County Chronicle Online. This sherriff has a penchant for hilarity in his sherriff reports.
