What I’m Politicing: Assault “Weapons” and Barack Obama
Well, Dear Husband pointed me in the direction of this on Barry’s website:
Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.
Three things.
One, with RHINOs hanging around and the Republican majority lost, it shouldn’t be too hard for Barry to quietly push this through.
Two, the language around such bills really angers me. Call a spade a spade, folks. On this Assault “Weapons” Ban, I don’t see knives, axes, or trebuchets; I see a list of guns. So can we call it the “Assault Gun Ban” since that is what it really is? Further, the guns on this list aren’t regularly used for “assault” by law abiding citizens; they’re used recreationally (for shooting sports competitions, hunting, and collection). So, actually, this bill should be call the “Shooting Sport, Hunting, and Collection Gun Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008.” And really ban is… oh wait… it actually is a ban.
Three, in case we’ve forgotten, let’s take a look at the Second Amendment:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
I dunno; this bill strikes me as an infringment on “the right of the people to keep and bear arms.”
So Barry and the Dems. have a little shopping list, I guess? They’re working on the First Amendment with the Fairness Doctrine. Next, they’ll head for the Second Amendment. Wondering what soldiers we’ll be housing in the next four years?

UPDATE:
Husband was in our local gun store today.
In the middle of October, the store had six AR-15 under $1,000. Today, the store has two AR-15s: one on consignment and the other they just got in from their wholesaler. They could only get one from the wholesaler.
